2011 SPRING THEATRE PERFORMANCE |
Musical Theatre: 101, 201, 301 These classes will focus on a different Broadway Musical each month. During the month they will learn about the musical, the choreographer, the style of dance used in the musical, singing, reading sheet music and some basic acting skills. |
Musical Theatre Level 101/201 In this class students will be introduced to stage direction, musical theatre history and terminology, background study of the musicals set forth in their syllabus, and the basics of reading music. Weekly class will encompass character assignments, the learning/memorizing of music, parts and choreography to create a full, performable piece every month. At the intermediate level students will continue to build upon the concepts they have learned in Level l adding more difficult music and dance. At this level we will add audition techniques for musical theatre. This means students will start "auditioning" individually in front of there peers with constructive discussion to follow. Students in these classes are required to take jazz class. |
Musical Theatre Level 301 Our advanced class will further their musical theatre education with even more challenging show selections. Students will be introduced more formally to hair and make-up design appropriate to character, time period and genre of show. By the end of the year each student will have the foundation for an audition repertoire including but not limited to one ballad, one up-tempo selection, and both a dramatic and comedic monologue. Students in these classes are required to take jazz AND tap class. |
